OLA Agreement

Availability indicators

This document describes the Operational Level Agreement (OLA) of OpenMinTeD provided by GRNET SA that provides the cloud infrastructure of OpenMinTeD.

Availability of the Data Center

The availability of the data center refers to the level of uninterrupted operation of the infrastructure, and in particular to the electrical infrastructure that powers all the data center devices and the mechanical systems that cool them. In this way, the operation of both the servers and the services running there is protected. Availability is defined as the percentage of time where the electrical infrastructure operates and provides power over a given period of time (usually a one-year period). It should be noted that in the case of power supply through the uninterruptible power supply system, the availability of the data center remains unaffected.

In the attempt to model data center infrastructures, the TIA (Telecommunication Industry Association) issued in 2005 a standard for data center categorization, in which it sets tiers in a comprehensive and detailed manner. TIA is an accredited ANSI group that oversees the development of technical standards for products, services, processes, systems and staff.

The node of GRNET SA is classified as TIER 1, which means that the maximum availability of the data center is 99,671%, i.e. 28.8 hours of unavailability per year. For the purpose of calculating availability, the maintenance periods of the support systems are not taken into account when they are carried out on maintenance windows and if the installed equipment operates in an uninterrupted manner.

Availability of service ~ okeanos Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS)

The ~okeanos IaaS availability refers to the time the service is running without errors and is available for use. Availability is defined as the percentage of time that the service operates continuously over a given period of time (usually a one-year period). Total availability of the ~okeanos IaaS is 99%. The percentage of unavailability is attributed to the following reasons: planned maintenance windows, subsystem failures, infrastructure operations, network and power outages, and software updates.

Availability of infrastructure aai.grnet.gr

The availability of the authentication and authorization (AAI) service refers to the time the service operates without errors and is available for use. Availability is defined as the percentage of time that the service operates continuously over a given period of time (usually a one-year period). The total availability of the infrastructure is 99%. The percentage of unavailability is attributed to the following reasons: planned maintenance windows, subsystem failures, infrastructure operations, network and power outages, and software updates.
