OpenMinTeD Partner presents VITIS pilot application at RDA’s IGAD pre-meeting
The 9th Plenary Meeting of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) took place in Barcelona, Spain, from 5 to 7 April 2017. The RDA Plenary Meetings constitute a major event where more than 4000 members from 100 countries come together to discuss, develop and promote data-sharing and data-driven research infrastructure through Working and Interest Groups. The Interest Group on Agricultural Data (IGAD) pre-meeting took place just a couple of days before the 9th RDA plenary meeting, from 3 to 4 April 2017 and attracted more than 100 participants from all over the world.
During the IGAD pre-meeting, Agroknow had the opportunity to present its use case (AS-A) pilot demonstrator, “VITIS”, that is being developed with support from the OpenMinTed Horizon 2020 project.
About VITIS
VITIS exploits core technologies for serving specific real-world problems of the Viticulture Research Community by assessing research results produced through Basic and Applied Research and by providing integrated tools for the end-users.
VITIS emphasizes on the discovery and linking of information related to the use and exploitation of viticulture research data, through intuitive visualization of information of the 68 core grapevine varieties cultivated in Greece in various vineyards and through large-scale linguistic pipeline with the possibility for full-text mining over pdf files ingested from different bibliographic databases such as AGRIS and CORE.
From IGAD to RDA
All conclusions of the IGAD pre-meeting were brought to the 9th RDA Plenary Meeting during the Agricultural Data Interest Group session showcasing concrete plans of action in the context of RDA’s mission, opening up access to agricultural data.
