GRNET

The Greek Research and Technology Network (GRNET) S.A. was founded in 1998 under the auspices of the Ministry of Development – General Secretariat of Research and Development in order to provide high quality Internet services to the Greek research and academic community. GRNET S.A. (http://www.grnet.gr) represents Greece in the GEANT pan-European network, which offers high speed and high quality services to the European research and academic community. Apart from its role as the Greek NREN, GRNET is the leading distributed computing infrastructure provider in Greece having the responsibility to operate the Greek National Grid infrastructure. GRNET is also active in the area of HPC computing being responsible for the deployment of the national HPC infrastructure, and is a member of PRACE. In OpenMinTeD, GRNET is leading the infrastructure provisioning activity offering cloud computing resources to the project. GRNET has developed an in-house IaaS cloud platform called Okeanos (http://okeanos.grnet.gr) which is currently providing cloud services to the Greek research and academic community. GRNET has also developed and is currently providing Pithos (https://pithos.grnet.gr/) object storage service.
